Are people that knowledgeable about perfumes that they can identify an expensive one?

...men i presume would just go by what smells nice....

...but would women [being more appreciative of/or suckered by status] be more impressed by a man wearing an expensive scent.

and also...are ALL expensive perfumes necessarily better than less expensive ones..or is it all a matter of personal preference? Are people that knowledgeable about perfumes that they can identify an expensive one?
Maybe not necessarily expensive smelling, but more like ';not cheap smelling';. Knock-offs require using much more of the scent as opposed to the ';real thing';. The scent also does not last as long. If it's a familiar scent that you recognize from the checkout line at Walmart or Family Dollar, it's probably going to nauseate you as well as everyone within smelling distance. Whatever smells common, as far as scents, is considered cheap. Are people that knowledgeable about perfumes that they can identify an expensive one?
As long as you don't smell bad... that's enough. Put deodorant after shower and little cologne, that's perfect.

Save money.
It doesnt matter to all girls i suppose. i usually can tell what someone is wearing, if i like it. Some scents like CK Be and Egyptian Musk that really are my favorites!
I just like it when a guy smells good. I prefer old spice over ax sooo. Yes the expensive ones are nice but not necessary.

I don`t know what it is about perfumes but as a woman perfume is my luxury , i only buy expensive ones and goodness knows how many bottles i own .. cheaper perumes can smell nice too . I think i can recognise an expensive perfume . I can identify perfumes as people walk past me i just love the stuff !Are people that knowledgeable about perfumes that they can identify an expensive one?
i dont no which one cost what!
With me is all a matter of personal preference. I always try a perfume before I buy it, as I tend to find that the smell changes once its been worn for a while. I tend to buy expensive perfume because it lasts longer when you wear it, that with cheaper ones.

As a woman, it doesn't matter to me if the aftershave worn by a man is on the cheaper side of the market, as long as it smells good on him.

As with sexy-pig, perfume is my one luxury purchase, and I do have an extensive range, and I can pretty much identify certain perfumes if worn by others. x
no expensive ones are not better than the less expensive. I don't care if a man is wearing 200.00 perfume or he bought it at the doller store if he smells nice that is the only thing I would be thinking about now where or how much he paid for it.
No. I go for stuff that makes me smell of f*ck! From most department stores. Men cannot tell if you are wearing men's or women's purfume either, except for the most common - say like Brut 33
personal preference and sometimes expensive doesnt smell good on everyone...

    Expensive and cheap perfumes?

What makes a parfume expensive or cheap, other than brand name. Is there any special ingredient in expensive perfumes, or they long laster? Some inexpensive perfumes smell really good and some expensive ones smell awful.Expensive and cheap perfumes?
You will find that these questions and answers help to answer your question. Perfume is the most expensive followed by the ther two. The difference is in the oils as detailed in the following:

What is the difference between Perfume, Eau de Parfum (EDP), Eau de Toilette (EDT), and Eau de Cologne (EDC)?

The differences are simply a matter of the amount or concentration of oils in the fragrance. These oils are called

Blondes or people with light skin have a tendency towards dry

skin, and fragrances are basically oils that will be absorbed by the skin like moisturizers. To help your fragrance last longer use a matching body lotion or unscented body lotion to apply to pulse points before applying your fragrance.

Why do fragrances smell differently on different people?

Body chemistry, diet and age affect fragrances on their skin. Also, fragrance consists of many essential oils. Certain essential oils have affinity to our skin, and they may be absorbed while other may not. This creates an imbalance on the skin and accounts for the difference.

How should I or where should I apply fragrance?

Fragrance should be applied to pulse points. This is where the blood vessels are closest to the skin giving off more heat and acting like mini fragrance pumps. Pulse points are the wrist, behind the ear, crook of the arm and knee, base of the throat. Also, for long lasting fragrance spray at the ankles, it allows the fragrance to blossom up.

    Does perfume need special handling?

Fragrances should be kept away from excessive heat or cold, and to avoid evaporation, the cap must be tightly closed to maintain fragrance integrity. Also, do not expose the fragrance for any length of time to sun light.

Are there other uses for a fragrance other than application to the body?

You can put a few drops of your favorite fragrance in a bath or a few drops in the water when washing your lingerie or spray on artificial flowers.

How long will a fragrance last on me?

Fragrances are designed to last about 4 hours or so. Some people may notice that a particular fragrance lasts all day but by then it will not smell as it's supposed to. You must re-apply once or twice a day.

How long can I keep my fragrance stored?

Fragrances don't last forever. There are certain precautions though that will ensure the quality of the fragrance. Keep the bottle in a dry, dark place. Heat can also destroy a fragrance so keep it from extreme temperatures. Fragrances usually last 3 years from the date they were manufactured.

Is it important to change fragrances according to the different seasons of the year?

Yes, since heat increases the intensity of a fragrance. There are certain fragrances that are more appropriate for summer and other stronger cents that would be better for winter use. A good guideline to follow is to wear lighter scents in the summer and stronger in the winter. Citrus scents are perfect for summer while oriental ones are better for winter.Expensive and cheap perfumes?
The only difference I can tell is the expensive ones last longer (and you're right, price does not make a difference when it comes to fragrance......some expensive perfumes are just overpowering and the smell just seems to linger forever)
Sorry but i would never buy a cheap perfume, they smell like sh!t and you can tell they are cheap!!!
Well, concentration is a key factor in price.

For an eau de toliette, the fragrance is diluted, thus making it less expensive than a parfume, which is higher in concentration.
i'm pretty sure is the brand name.
sometimes the cheep perfumes start to smell funny after awhile on you. And it definatley doesn't last as long
expensive perfume cost more because it last longer and took more effort to make the cheap one smell more like alcohol and last for few minutes.
i think the cheaper ones have more water in them than fragrance thus making the smell not last 2 long, while the expensive ones last much much longer

Do the perfumes that are expensive have any kind of animal urine in them?

Not sure if modern perfumes still use this, but there's a substance called ';ambergris'; that was used as a base ingredient for really fine perfumes...it is a secretion from a whale's glands [Wikipedia should have a more scientific explanation for you] and was worth more than gold. A friend of my father's found a lump of it washed up on the beach and got a really huge sum of money for it. I don't think ambergris is urine, but a whale is definitely an animal. Check it out!Do the perfumes that are expensive have any kind of animal urine in them?
i dont know if its true but i heard they did.. hahaDo the perfumes that are expensive have any kind of animal urine in them?
ew i dont think they do..i have never heard of that! so i wouldnt think so
    no....i hope mine dont O_o
    I hope not
LOL... where did you hear that from.
haha hope not... where did u hear that?....never heard of it!

    Why creed perfumes are expensive?

i don't get it. creed perfumes are over 100 dollars. are they any good? 100 dollars = 90 dollar menu burgers (lol)

what's a good smelling perfume? Why creed perfumes are expensive?
they are nice... but perfume is such an individual thing, they are over 100 dollars because they use better ingredients and more of them ( more concentrated) cheaper ';perfumes'; are not as concentrated.

good smelling is up to you to decide - go experiment and have fun doing it.
